When workers were restoring the Fontainebleau Palace near Paris last year, they found a gold hairpin stuck in a drainpipe. Markings on the pin showed that it had belonged to Catherine de’ Medici, the Queen of France, back in the 16th century. It had apparently remained hidden there for nearly 500 years. Gold in Nature

A Canadian man who was visiting Scotland earlier this year thought it would be fun to learn to pan for gold, so he signed up for a class. It proves that gold can still be found in streams and mineral deposits, so don’t stop looking.
